About ConvertMeow
ConvertMeow is a free, browser-based toolkit for everyday media work: compressing video to fit WhatsApp, Discord and email limits, extracting audio to MP3, turning MP4 into GIF, and converting between common video and audio formats. No account, no watermark, no upload cap.
Your files never leave your device
The core difference is where the work happens. Most online converters upload your file to a server, process it there, and hand back a download link — which means your media sits on someone else's machine. ConvertMeow runs the conversion engine inside your browser instead. Video and audio are transcoded with ffmpeg.wasm, speech transcription uses Whisper, and text-to-speech uses Kokoro — all compiled to WebAssembly and executed on your own hardware. Your file is read straight from disk into the page and is never sent to us. Nothing to leak, nothing to delete.
Honest about the limits
Local processing is private and free, but it runs on a single browser thread with a memory ceiling, so multi-gigabyte footage and large batches can be slow. We say so plainly on each tool, and we point to a desktop application when that genuinely is the better choice — rather than pretending the browser can do everything.
Who maintains it
ConvertMeow is built and maintained by a small independent editorial team focused on browser-based media tooling. Our principle is simple: tools should be free, private, and usable without signing up. Questions or corrections are welcome at info@convertmeow.com.
