Compress video to a target size
Set an MB or MiB target. Keep an already-small original unchanged, or choose to convert a copy to MP4. Everything runs in your browser.
Synthetic clock, flash and beep. Downloaded only when you choose it.

MB = 1,000,000 bytes · MiB = 1,048,576 bytes
Check the receiving app's current limit, then set your own target. Keep an original that already fits, or convert a copy to MP4 with the available audio tracks. Smaller files can lose detail.
Check the receiving page’s current limit and enter that target. An original already within it keeps its bytes, name and format without loading the encoder.

How to use compress video to a size
- 1Choose the short video or screen recording you need to send.
- 2Enter the receiving limit and its unit: MB is the default; MiB is also available.
- 3Keep an original already within target, or choose to convert a copy to MP4. For oversized files, start compression; it uses at most two encoding attempts.
- 4Check the size verdict and exact bytes. Encoded copies also get duration and audio track checks. Play the result, then download the original or MP4 copy.
Why use ConvertMeow's Compress video to a size?
- See the target beside the actual output; an oversized result stays clearly marked.
- Retain the source audio tracks instead of silently removing sound to save space.
- Process locally without registration; default compression keeps the original if encoding does not make it smaller.
Frequently asked questions
No. There are at most two encoding attempts, and the final verdict uses actual bytes. If it is still over target, prepare a shorter source clip or allow more space. An oversized download is not a confirmed fit.
1 MB is 1,000,000 bytes; 1 MiB is 1,048,576 bytes. MB is the default. Choose MiB when the recipient specifies it. Example targets do not represent a platform’s current upload allowance.
Keeping the original checks only its size; its bytes and format stay unchanged. Compression or an explicit MP4 conversion uses lossy H.264 and AAC encoding, with duration and audio track checks. Play the copy to review speech, text and picture quality.
Keep the original. You can cancel and retry. Long or high-resolution recordings may exceed your device’s available memory; prepare a shorter source clip or use a desktop video tool.
Conversion runs in the current browser; the video file is not uploaded to a conversion server. Keep the original until the recipient has confirmed the copy plays.
